So I kinda took a little break this weekend from painting just to get myself ready to finish up the Chaos and Eldar. Did manage to get a game in, but nothing too amazing.
However, I’ve been staring at the Necrons on my shelf right now, playing around with list ideas and potential armies (though I probably won’t play Necrons).
Now, I’ve never really been one for Special Characters. I got into the hobby playing the LoTR SBG, and my main hero was an Orc Captain with shield named Granesh who, despite being fun to play, always got his face smashed by Boromir of the White Tower. So my Necron lists don’t have the Stormlord, or the Anakyr the Traveller because, well, I just don’t want to run them!
Anyways, these are just for fun, mainly using released models, except in a few instances.
Necron List #1: 1000 Points
HQ
- Necron Overlord with a Resurrection Orb and Warscythe in a Command Barge.
- Royal Court, consisting of:
- Necron Lord with Resurrection Orb and Warscythe.
- Necron Lord with Resurrection Orb and Warscythe.
- Cryptek with Harbinger of Despair and Veil of Darkness.
- NONE
- Necron Warriors X11
- Necron Warriors X11
- Necron Immortals X5
- Necron Scarabs X7
- Annihilation Barge
This list functions like a smaller version of my next list, the 2000 one. Command Barge Overlord becomes a speeding Warscythe of Doom, while the Necron Warriors hang back on objectives, supported by the Annihilation Barge. The Warriors get the Lords, while the Cryptek hangs with the Immortals, providing Night Fight for a key turn of the game. The Scarabs help support the Overlord, and the army, as long as it doesn’t get hit by a Deathstar assaulty unit, should be ok.

ReplyDeletelandraider? More chow for the scarabs, :)
ReplyDeleteYou have so many points in res orbs that I don't feel they will ever make their points back. You are missing the best piece of war gear in the entire army. Mind shackle scarabs are a must for anyone who can take them. If you hope on over to my blog, I have 2 video battle reports that show the effectiveness of them as well as some suprise units from the codex (mostly non overlord special characters). For me, the only problem I have is that your list bogs people down, but has no real effective method of killing them. Stalkers are nice, but that 2 multimelta just isnt claiming its worth since it has to walk. Too make it worse for them, with target saturation, they should die first after the barge lord. Why a res orb? I run mine 2+/3++ warscythe MSS and he eats units, but the orb only as gear seems kind of confusing.
