Painting: Desert Tau and Smells Like Wargaming Marine Group Shots

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post, I’ll be doing the next part of the Plastic Inquisitorial Henchmen posts tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that! Meanwhile, I’ve been trucking along onto the Tau, as well as my own Smells Like Wargaming Marines. Come to think of it, I need to finish up my own Tau…alas, damn time and schoolwork.

First up is the Tau Commission. So far, I’ve finished 3 Piranhas, 2 XV9 Hazard Suits, a Hammerhead, and a Devilfish.

I’m waiting on a group of 1/16”X1/32” Rare Earth Magnets to come in to build the Crisis Suits, but I’ll be priming and starting on the Drones and the Smart Missile Systems tomorrow!

Also, while I had the picture space set up, I took a shot of my Smells Like Wargaming Marines as they’re finished so far.

I really need to get a Left arm for that AoBR dread that’s not a Multi-Melta. I’m really hoping to get a Left combat arm, though a Frag Cannon would be really neat too.

Anyways, expect more Tau pictures tomorrow and the following days, and I’ll have the next part of the Plastic Henchmen up tomorrow!

  1. Like the desert Tau. It is a scheme I was trying to incorporate on Space Marines and failed....
...you however have pulled it off quite nicely.

  4. Yeah, I really like the XV9 suits, though they are fairly fiddly models to put together for some reason...

  5. Hi, I used to play warhammer when I was younger and now looking to get back into it. I love your paint scheme and would like to apply it to my new Tau army. Can you please explain how you painted yours because they look fantastic!

  6. Hey Simon! I don't have the exact recipe anymore, but you can achieve the same effect by starting with Stormvermin Fur, and gradually mixing up to like Pallid Wych Flesh or another color like that. Just play with browns until you find a color you like. The rocky effect was achieved by my overbrushing technique.
Hope that helps, drop me an email if you have any other questions!
