9/25/15: Finished: Legio Ignis Mars Alpha Pattern Warlord Titan Commission

Holy smokes!

Sorry for the lack of posts the last two months! Smells Like Wargaming is still chugging away, some computer issues and ease of use caused the blog here to slip to the bottom of the pile! I've got a backlog of stuff to show off, but this time, we've got the big kahuna himself!

Taking three weeks from cleaning to completion, this model was easily the biggest and my favorite model I've ever completed! I'll let the photos speak for me though!

What a beast! I'd love to work on another one, or even a Warhound or Reaver! If you're looking to get your titan painted, or army, for that matter, drop me an email at SmellsLikeWargaming at Hotmail dot com, and we'll get you sorted!

I'll be catching up on posts this weekend, but I'll be on a short vacation towards the end of the week for a much needed rest! Next up is White Scars, Mechanicum, and some big big tanks!

  1. Really like the model but the base I think needs a bit more attention. The bright green heavy bolter and a few of the brown streaks in the mud just scream airbrush. The model and the blue flames look sweet and the scenic base is nice, I just don't like that the painting on the base looks like a 20 minute airbrush job. Nice colour choice!

    1. Hey TheAmbit! Now that you mention it there are a couple streaks in the mud that I didn't blend as well as I should have! Thanks for catching it :) While the base wasn't rushed I wanted to keep things a little simpler there to keep the eye drawn to the obvious focal point of the model.

      Thanks for the input!

    2. Sorry I feel bad for offering any negative critique on such a sweet project. It's a minor thing, I think it's just the one photo my eye was drawn to that crescent shaped brown near the front of the base.

    3. Don't feel bad! Artwork is meant to be critiqued, and if I couldn't take a little critique I'd be in the wrong profession! I noticed it too after you mentioned it too. I'll see if I can go back and touch it up but it might be too late unfortunately!

  3. The ghost flames are quite well done. Haven't seen one in this scheme yet. Nice work! Though I agree a bit about the base, at the same time, most of these guys don't have bases at all. Just having one is a big plus!
